MS/HS Curriculum - scaffold the emotional intelligence frameworks into ability-level art instructions with techniques training.
Learning Goals for K-2nd:
Exercise focus, patience & fine motor skills. Explore fine arts mediums with appropriate application instructions.
For 3-5th Graders, art education is focused on color theories and skill acquisition, while scaffolding situated learning and experience hands-on activities. The goal is to build resilience and techniques through iterations.
Story telling is the key component for these learners to develop visual vocabularies.

Art is means of self-expression unlike any other. Launch students' creative minds by co-constructing knowledge and techniques through medium-based art classes. Paying close attention to the fundamentals, we explore different styles and techniques of fine art, all the while encouraging personal growth and creative voice. Master the delicate strokes of watercolor or learn the practice of intricate charcoal drawings!

Kimmy Ma is pursuing her doctoral degree, her research
explores how long-term visual arts engagement in out-of-school settings fosters youth’s sense of belonging, autonomy, and well-being. Drawing from my art praxis, this research is guided by the Social Artistic Model (SAM), a guiding framework I developed to position arts engagement as a relational and reflective learning process. SAM integrates emotional intelligence, critique, and identity expression into a participatory experiential learning model. Motivated by observed declines in youth social connectedness—exacerbated by the isolating effects of digital culture—this inquiry investigates how sustained, community-rooted visual arts practice supports human development in the era of AI. SAM extends as an intervention in teaching artistry into a dialogical framework for interdisciplinary curriculum design, positioning creative learning as a vital, human-centered force for educational equity and youth flourishing.
sharing her passion for lifelong learning and personal growth.
As Experiential learning curriculum designer for nearly two decades, I commit to mentorship and advocacy in our communities.

Portfolio development takes serious commitment for young artists (6th graders-HS): Our young talents are expected to put in strong work ethics and self-motivation are ready to prepare a compelling portfolio. Many begin their preparation 1-2 years before audition, in addition to after 2 years of basic medium/technique training. These art works demonstrate young artists' dedication and hard work to create original concepts while using exceptional understanding in techniques. Portfolios are thoughtfully developed in observations & imagination categories to show strong design and visual narrative, in both found objects in mixed mediums and in fine arts mediums. Art theory and creative discussions further prepare our art learners to articulate confidently in their visual essays and in auditions & on-site practical exams. Our young artists are mentored, prepared and focused, as they launch their creative minds! Portfolio sizes up to 14x28.
